Our History
A sense of history is certainly something we’re proud of at the Principal Hotel Company, whether it’s The Principal London’s link to the Titanic, De Vere Latimer Estate’s top secret war-time location as an MI6 base or De Vere Oxford Thames’ origins as a Knight Templar enclave in the 12th Century.
History has to be made and in recent years there has been significant development with the multi-million pound investment and launch of Principal, city-centre hotels based in landmark buildings, and the additional investment and soft launch of De Vere, a collection of country estate hotels with more to come in 2017. This transformational investment, backed by Starwood Capital Group, follows the acquisition of the former PH Hotels, De Vere Venues and Four Pillars Hotels brands. The collective portfolio of properties, including our Partner Hotels, combines over 30 locations, more than 7,500 bedrooms sleeping in excess of 3M customers a year and with over 1,500 meeting rooms with space from 2 to 1,000 people. The collective strength of the group has been recognised by the Sunday Times as being amongst the top 250 growing companies.

Every day, in each of our properties we share a Value of the Day at our daily ‘Line Up’ meetings to remind us of the importance of our values to the business, our customers and ourselves.
Each of our hotels holds at least three daily line-ups so that every team member knows who is arriving and what is expected that day; great service starts with great planning and communication.

We have over 30 stunning properties in locations such as Edinburgh, Cardiff, Windsor, Dorking and Central London with over 6000 amazing colleagues; could you be our next?

Our Group central support functions are located in Harrogate, North Yorkshire where several brilliant teams such as IT, Finance and HR support the group. We also have Central Services based in Daventry who support our Conference Centre business. Finally, we have two other support hubs in Elstree and Central London which host our credit control team and Principal Support Team respectively.

The Inspire is our iconic Head Office based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. We have several teams based here that act as pivotal central support functions to our properties. These teams include:
